So in my 9th Grade English class, we had to write an essay on why Patriotism is important. The requirements were a catchy title and 300-400 words (Not including title or name)

Also, top 5 in school get turned into state. If you get turned into state, 10 extra credit, and if you are a finalist in state, you get 50 extra credit points.

I think mines pretty good, proud of it.

Patriotism is one’s love, devotion, support and defense of one’s country. Does it still matter? The answer to this question is yes. Whether it takes bombings and wars for us to realize, patriotism is the key to keeping our nation alive.
Back in 2001, the World Trade Centers were attacked. We instantly had an almost infinite amount of soldiers ready for action, to die for our country. Teenagers straight from high school to veterans on the field, they all fight for the same cause. I believe that is true patriotism.
So if you’re thinking, “No way! I’m not joining the military!” Its ok, you don’t have to put your life on the line to show patriotism. Simple things like hanging an American flag or singing the national album before a game all help show patriotism. This is how you can show true patriotism.
People doing their normal life, day-to-day jobs are also showing patriotism. Teachers are helping prepare the youth of today for the future. Creating our leaders and motivators to help us. Engineers are creating all sorts of vehicles, from our normal Escalades to a new Tank that will help us win wars. Diplomats are helping our country by keeping the nation free. Often passing new laws, or denying them, for the better of our country. Also making deals that could tip a war one way or another, or provoke or prevent a war. This is how people show true patriotism.
If we didn’t have patriotism, our nation would be an absolute dead nation. Countries would easily march over us if we didn’t have people who wanted to defend our country Within a month other countries would be having a war over who would get the land covered with all our dead bodies. This is how true patriotism helps us.
So as you can see, Patriotism is important to the success of our country. We thrive of fit, we need it. Sad thing is, around the country, people are starting to be less patriotic. We need to spread the word of Patriotism. I believe, and know, that if we all be as patriotic as we can, we can survive through tough times, like we are going through now. So spread the word, hang up a flag, do whatever you can to be patriotic. This is why we need true patriotism.
